Characterisation of Au/Pt Thermocouples – Realization of EMRP Research Grant

Authors Sebastian Kalisz - Central Office of Measures (Główny Urząd Miar)

Abstract

Studies on Au versus Pt thermocouples are still not sufficiently developed, despite the fact of already fairly long use in metrology. It makes impossible to close the chapter on this group of measuring instruments. Properties of Au versus Pt thermocouples allow to think on a much wider use, including a interpolation thermometer. From this point of view, work in a research project SIB10 noted JRP (Novel techniques for dissemination traceable temperature) was carried out under a grant Researcher Mobility Grant (RMG). The article describes the work carried out at the Centro Español de Metrología (CEM) concerning the measurements of Au versus Pt thermocouples homogeneity and calibration in fixed points of the International Temperature Scale (ITS-90).
