Changes in the management of the European metrology institutions

Jörg Zymnossek has been appointed to the post of the first General Secretary of EURAMET, the European Association of National Metrology Institutes. The decision on establishing of the new post has been taken during the 9th EURAMET General Assembly in Krakow. Mr Zymnossek will take up the position in January 2016. He has broad experience both in private sector and as a group head at the German state standardization institution. He declares strong support for developing of an integrated and internationally competitive measurement infrastructure for Europe while taking into account the needs of the industry, business and governments.

The new Vice-President of EMPIR Committee has also been elected (the European Metrology Programme for Innovation and Research Committee). Erkki Ikonen became a new Vice-President of the Committee and has replaced his German predecessor, Jörn Stenger. Mr. Erkki Ikonen will supervise the developing and implementing strategies for the further development of the EMPIR programme and is going to assume his duties in the beginning of 2016.
