7th Meeting of the WELMEC e.V. Committee Has Concluded
On 21–23 April this year, the 7th meeting of the WELMEC e.V. Committee took place in Brno, Czech Republic, with the participation of the representative of the Central Office of Measures (GUM), Mr Marcin Mikiel.
The meeting was attended by numerous representatives of WELMEC e.V. member institutions from across Europe. During the meeting, a number of important decisions concerning the future functioning of the organisation were adopted. A significant highlight of this year’s meeting was the admission of Ukraine as a member of WELMEC e.V., becoming the organisation’s 39th member. The accession of Ukraine underlines the openness and readiness for further development of WELMEC e.V. and, in the longer term, will strengthen the harmonisation of legal metrology systems in Europe. During the meeting, important decisions were also taken concerning the leadership of WELMEC e.V. The current Chair, Mr Pavel Klenovsky (Czech Republic), will complete his term of office on 2 May this year. In this regard, the members of WELMEC e.V. expressed their gratitude for his leadership of the organisation, commitment and openness, as well as for his long-standing contribution to European legal metrology.
In accordance with the resolution adopted by the Committee in 2025, the Chairmanship of WELMEC e.V. will be assumed by the current Vice-Chair, Mr Jan Deconinck (Belgium). During the meeting, members also elected a new Vice-Chair, Ms Pamela Dagg (Ireland).
Furthermore, during the session, resolutions related to the current activities of WELMEC e.V. were adopted. These included the approval of the convenors of working groups, the approval of the discharge of the organisation’s budget implementation for 2025, and the adoption of the budget for 2027. The participants agreed to meet online in the third quarter of 2026 to discuss the financial matters of WELMEC e.V. In the technical part of the meeting, a number of revised WELMEC guides were approved.
The next meeting of the Committee will be held on 26–28 May 2027 in North Macedonia.
