Visit of the Head of the Lithuanian Metrology Inspectorate to the GUM
On 18 July 2024, the Central Office of Measures (GUM) was visited by representatives of the Lithuanian Metrology Inspectorate - its Head, Mr Vaidas Gricius, and his Deputy, Mr Rimantas Sanajevas.
During the visit, the guests met with, among others, the President of GUM, Prof. Jacek Semaniak, and representatives of the Certification Department (Ms Paulina Olszewska), the Supervision and Inspection Department (Mr Konrad Stolarski), as well as representatives of the International Cooperation Department (Mr Marcin Mikiel, Ms Joanna Bukiel). During the meeting, structure and tasks of the Certification Department, as well as certification processes and challenges in the legal metrology area were presented. Moreover, the guests learned about the measurement administration system in Poland and the laws whose compliance is supervised by the Supervision and Inspection Department of the GUM (Act Law on Measures, Hallmarking Law, Act on Tachographs, Act on Prepackaged Goods, Act on the System of Conformity Assessment and Market Surveillance).
After the presentations and a brief discussion, Prof. Semaniak and Mr Vaidas Gricius signed a cooperation agreement between the aforementioned institutions.
In the second part of the visit, the representatives of the Lithuanian Metrology Inspectorate visited the Świetokrzyski Laboratory Campus of the GUM, where they became acquainted with the construction process of the campus, the planned equipment, and the implemented services.
While expressing gratitude for the opportunity to sign the agreement and for the chance to meet, the Lithuanian guests voiced their hope for closer cooperation for mutual benefit and extended an invitation to visit the Lithuanian Metrology Inspectorate.
