Happy World Metrology Day 2023!
Celebrating the World Metrology Day at GUM and The CCQM video presentations
In our Office we started the celebration of the World Metrology Day on May 18 this year. On this occasion, the President of the Central Office of Measures in Poland (GUM) decorated employees of the Polish administration of measures and hallmarking administration with state distinctions awarded by the President of the Republic of Poland, Dr Andrzej Duda, for merits in social activities, for contribution to the development and promotion of modern metrology, and for exemplary, extremely conscientious performance of duties resulting from professional work.
In addition, on this day, employees and their families could visit the laboratories of the Central Office of Measures, which are usually inaccessible to them and to visit the exhibition of historical measuring instruments. There was also an occasion for the employees of GUM and their families to celebrate together during the picnic, which was organized in the courtyard of GUM.
The Consultative Committee for Amount of Substance: Metrology in Chemistry and Biology (CCQM) is celebrating World Metrology Day on 20 May 2023, and is happy to present a series of short recordings covering the importance of metrological traceability and equivalence of measurements in food safety, trade and authenticity. Topics include measurements, reference materials and interlaboratory comparisons related to: allergen detection; emerging contaminants; GMO detection; alternative proteins; food packaging; mycotoxins and pesticides. The activities support the global food system and compliance with high quality standards to protect the health of consumers and foster the global food trade.
