The rapid development of digital technologies is currently revolutionizing our lives and is one of the most exciting trends in modern society.

Metrology, the science of measurements, plays a key role in scientific discovery and innovation, industrial production and international trade, in improving the quality of life and protecting the global environment.

World Metrology Day is an annual celebration to commemorate the signing of the Metre Convention on May 20, 1875 by representatives of seventeen countries. The Convention established a framework for global cooperation in the science of measurement and its industrial, commercial and social applications.

The original goal of the Metric Convention - worldwide uniformity of measurements - remains as important today as it was in 1875.
