Delegation of GUM visited PTB
On August 3rd, delegation from the Central Office of Measures in Poland (GUM) consists of President of GUM prof. Jacek Semaniak, acting Vice-President of GUM dr Andrzej Kurkiewicz and head of the International Cooperation Section of GUM dr Marcin Mikiel visited its German counterpart, Physikalisch Tehnische Bundesanstalt (PTB).
During the visit delegation met with the representatives of management board of PTB, discussing structure and tasks of GUM and placing emphasis on future campus of GUM, located in Kielce city and equipped with modern laboratories and training facilities. From their side, PTB representatives presented in brief history of PTB and main activity directions, undermarked successes of this German institution. In next step delegation of GUM visited laboratories of PTB, dealing with source of single photon, renewable sources of energy (sun energy), time and frequency laboratory and Ionizing Radiation laboratory. Culmination of the visit was discussion about further cooperation between our institutions in the field of mutual study visits, exchange of employees and mutual projects, as well as discussion about cooperation of GUM with European Association of Metrology Institutes (EURAMET), which secretary office is located in PTB-Braunchweig.
